I love the simplicity of trees in winter; stripped of their leaves they take on a delicate structural beauty that allows you to really notice each individual branch and twig. This little stunner on a moor above the Peak District village of Hathersage was being picked out perfectly by the late evening sun against a rather menacing sky as I passed, so obviously I had to stop and preserve the fleeting moment, it would have been a travesty not to.
